Nigella papillosa Eclipse (African Bride)

Product ref: P28780

Availability: Out of stock

Nigella papillosa 'Eclipse', commonly known as African Bride, is a stunning annual renowned for its unique creamy-white flowers surrounding a dramatic dark purple-black centre. Blooming from June to August, the distinctive flowers stand proudly above delicate fern-like foliage and are followed by impressive ornamental seed pods that extend the season of interest.

Growing to around 50-80cm in height, love-in-a-mist thrives with minimal attention and readily self-seeds in favourable conditions. Regular watering during prolonged dry spells will help maintain flowering, while occasional deadheading can encourage further blooms. However, leaving some flowers to form seed pods provides valuable late-season interest and allows plants to reappear naturally the following year. Avoid overly rich soils, as this can encourage excess foliage at the expense of flowers. Plant in full sun and well-drained soil for the best performance. Pair with cosmos for a beautiful cottage garden display.

Supplied in approx. 1 litre containers.
