Hosta 'Halcyon'
Availability: Out of stock
A merit award winner in both the USA and UK, Hosta ‘Halcyon’ is a refined, medium-sized perennial with blue-green foliage and naturally tidy, architectural form. The thick, heart-shaped leaves have a smooth, slightly cupped surface with a soft, powdery bloom that holds its colour well through the season, making it an excellent choice for bringing calm structure and cool tones to shaded areas of the garden.
In early to mid-summer, graceful spikes of pale lavender flowers add a light, airy contrast to the foliage. ‘Halcyon’ thrives in partial to full shade in moisture-retentive, well-drained soil and is particularly effective in woodland borders, along shaded paths, or as a grounding element beneath trees and shrubs. It pairs beautifully with plants such as other Hosta, Carex oshimensis ‘Everillo’ and Heuchera ‘Snowy Panky’, where differences in leaf texture and colour enhance its cool, sculptural character. Minimal maintenance is required; simply remove spent flower stems and tidy old foliage in late autumn or early spring to keep the plant looking fresh and well defined year after year.
Supplied in approx. 1 litre containers.
