Poppy Plant 'Hungarian Blue' - Papaver somniferum
Availability: Out of stock
A captivating annual poppy, Papaver somniferum 'Hungarian Blue', is loved for its rich, smoky purple blooms that emerge in early to mid summer. As the season progresses, decorative seed pots develop, extending interest. Easy to grow, it prefers well-drained soil in a sunny position and will self-seed freely.
Following flowering, the main use of these poppies comes along, and that is their seeds. The seeds of all somniferum type poppies (which go under several common names such as opium poppies, breadseed poppies, or peony poppies) are perfect to use on crusty bloomers or in other breads, cakes and kitchen bakes, providing a subtle nutty flavour. The empty dried heads are further prized for dried flower arrangements as a further use.
Supplied in approx. 1 litre containers.
