Poppy Plant 'Rose Feathers' - Papaver somniferum laciniatum
Availability: Out of stock
Papaver somniferum laciniatum 'Rose Feathers’ is an extraordinary fringed poppy featuring deeply cut, feather-like petals in rose-pink tones. Its unusual shaggy blooms create a wonderfully textured display from late spring through summer, bringing movement and interest to borders and cutting gardens alike.
Following flowering, the main use of these poppies comes into play: their seeds. The seeds of all somniferum type poppies (which go under several common names such as opium poppies, breadseed poppies, or peony poppies) are perfect to use on crusty bloomers or in other breads, cakes and kitchen bakes, providing a subtle nutty flavour. The empty dried heads are further prized for dried flower arrangements as a further use.
Ideal for informal cottage gardens, wildlife-friendly schemes and naturalistic planting, this distinctive variety combines beautifully with cornflowers and ornamental grasses. Once established, plants require very little attention beyond occasional watering during extended dry periods.
Supplied in approx. 1 litre containers.
