Pear Tree - Doyenne du Comice (Quince Eline)
Availability: Out of stock
Often hailed as the king of dessert pears, the Doyenne du Comice variety is a luxurious addition to any garden. In spring, it becomes covered in snow white blossoms, attracting bees and heralding the season. In autumn, it produces large, rounded pears with smooth green-yellow skin, sometimes kissed with a rosy blush; ideal for eating fresh.
Â
Best suited to orchard-style plantings, cottage gardens, or generous borders, this variety thrives in a sunny, sheltered position with moist, fertile, well-drained soil. This French pear crops more heavily with a nearby pollination partner. Easy to care for, it requires only light pruning in winter to shape and encourage new growth, along with regular watering in dry spells and a spring mulch to boost soil health. With its combination of spring elegance and autumn indulgence, the Doyenne du Comice Pear Tree is a true gourmet treat for the home gardener.
Â
Supplied in approx. 12 litre containers grafted on Quince Eline rootstock. This dwarfing pear variety produces smaller trees with an ultimate height between 2 and 3m. Similar to Quince C, but it is generally more productive and better tolerates cold temperatures.
