Pennisetum glauca 'Purple Majesty'

Pennisetum glauca 'Purple Majesty' is a spectacular ornamental millet that brings dramatic height, rich colour and architectural interest to summer planting schemes. Its upright stems are clothed in broad foliage that matures to deep burgundy-purple, creating a distinct backdrop for colourful flowering plants. From mid-summer, velvety purple-brown flower spikes rise above the foliage, adding texture and movement. This impressive ornamental grass is perfect for adding structure to borders and contemporary displays.

Perfect for sunny borders, prairie-style gardens and large patio containers, 'Purple Majesty' thrives in a warm, sheltered position with well-drained soil. Water regularly during dry periods, particularly when grown in containers, and feed occasionally during the growing season to encourage vigorous growth. Position towards the back or middle of borders where its height can create an impressive focal point. Companions include Dahlias, Rudbeckia and Echinacea, creating stunning late-summer displays with plenty of pollinator appeal.

Supplied in approx. 1 litre containers.
