Pleioblastus humilis var. pumilus
Availability: In stock
Pleioblastus humilis var. pumilus is a compact, low-growing bamboo prized for its elegant variegated foliage and dense, spreading habit. This attractive evergreen variety forms a lush carpet of narrow green leaves striped with soft creamy-yellow variegation, creating year-round texture and colour in the garden. Its graceful arching stems and neat growth make it an excellent choice for ground cover, contemporary borders, Japanese-style gardens and large containers.
Thriving in moist, well-drained soil in sun or partial shade, this bamboo benefits from regular watering during dry periods to maintain healthy foliage. Trim back older or untidy stems in late winter or early spring to encourage fresh new growth and maintain a tidy appearance. Pair with acers, ferns and hostas for a tranquil planting scheme rich in contrasting textures and foliage tones. A superb architectural plant, it brings structure, movement and evergreen interest to the garden throughout the year.
Supplied in approx. 2.5 litre containers.
