Portulaca grandiflora 'Double Mixed' is a gorgeous, heat-loving annual producing a dazzling mixture of fully double, rose-like blooms in shades of yellow, pink, red, orange, cream and purple from summer until autumn. The colourful flowers open in bright sunshine above succulent, needle-like foliage, creating a carpet of colour that is perfect for borders, containers, hanging baskets and rock gardens. Exceptionally drought-tolerant once established, this cheerful variety thrives in hot, dry conditions where many other bedding plants struggle.
This easy-care variety requires very little maintenance; deadheading is rarely necessary, although removing faded flowers can help keep displays looking tidy. Avoid overwatering, as plants perform best in lean, well-drained soils and sunny positions. Plant in full sun for maximum flowering.Â
