Prunus cerasifera 'Nigra' - Black Cherry Plum - Blossom Tree

The Prunus Nigra, often called the Black Cherry Plum, is a gorgeous ornamental tree that adds interest and colour to your garden. Its pale pink blooms, appearing in early spring, contrast beautifully with its deep purple, nearly black, foliage. The blooms increase the biodiversity of your garden by drawing pollinators like bees. The rich, dark leaves, which change to blazing tones of red and orange in the autumn, make a dramatic backdrop as the seasons change.

In late summer, the Prunus Nigra provides small, dark purple fruits in addition to its aesthetic value. These berries resemble plums and can be used to make preserves, jams, and jellies.
