Pumpkin ‘Racer’ is a dependable, early-maturing variety bred to produce attractive, uniform pumpkins with the classic bright orange colour and rounded shape associated with traditional Halloween pumpkins. Typically producing fruits weighing around 6–10kg, ‘Racer’ develops smooth skin, well-defined ribs, and sturdy handles, making it ideal for carving, decorating, and autumn displays. The flesh is also suitable for cooking, with a mild flavour that can be used in soups, pies, and roasted dishes.
An excellent choice for home growers, ‘Racer’ performs well in a sunny position with rich, moisture-retentive soil and plenty of space for its trailing vines to spread. Regular watering during dry weather and feeding throughout the growing season will help support strong fruit development. For the best-sized pumpkins, remove weaker fruits and allow the plant to focus its energy on a smaller crop. Harvest before the first frosts once the skins have hardened and the stems begin to dry.
Pumpkins are a rewarding crop that bring colour, character, and a sense of seasonal tradition to the garden, while providing versatile fruits that can be enjoyed long after harvest.
Supplied in approx. 1 litre containers.
