Rhododendron Hans Hachmann - Evergreen Rhododendron

Rhododendron ‘Hans Hachmann’ is a richly coloured evergreen shrub celebrated for its eye-catching flowers and glossy foliage. The blooms open in generous trusses, blending deep raspberry-red tones with beautiful white markings and darker speckling at the centre, creating a dramatic, velvety effect. This variety is a standout choice for spring interest in borders or woodland-style planting.

This rhododendron thrives in a lightly shaded position, protected from harsh midday sun, and prefers moist soil. It pairs beautifully with plants that enhance its colouring and woodland character, such as Pieris japonica ‘Forest Flame’ for contrasting foliage or Skimmia japonica ‘Rubella’ for winter interest. For ground cover, Heuchera in burgundy or silver tones and spring bulbs such as white Narcissus create a layered, harmonious display. To maintain the plant, remove spent flower heads after blooming to conserve energy and lightly prune only if needed, allowing it to retain its naturally compact, well-shaped form.
