I have had one of these in a giant 200 litre pot for about twenty years. It is suffering from being used as a scratching post by the cat...... When I bought it, it was unlabeled in a large garden centre. It grew into the most beautiful shrub, looking very Japanese. When I ordered this, I thought it had died after the 20 degree plus days in March followed by Artic winds. I lost a lot of my shrubs but thankfully it seems I was overly pessimistic and it it now sending out leaves again. I hadn't realised when ordering that this is a standard bush with the graft about 115cm above ground. It arrived well packaged. I opened it immediately and soaked it in a bucket of water and planted it the following morning. For three weeks it looked a little sad but now I can see leaf buds emerging so all is well. I think by the end of it's first summer it might look like a ball of a plant on the top of it's trunk, but by next year it will have filled out more and be fabulous. I imagine this will look even better than my original shrubby one. The leaves hang down and curl like ringlets. Thank you, Gardening Express.
