Rubus 'Betty Ashburner' - Ornamental Bramble

A spreading, low growing shrub Rubus ‘Betty Ashburner’ is the perfect colourful plant for ground cover. This shrub is loved for its evergreen heart-shaped leaves which display a deep green colour as well as a unique form. These leaves are borne by bristled red stems which contrast well with the foliage and can help the plant spread with rooting occurring from the leaf axils. ‘Betty Ashburner’ has white saucer-shaped flowers that bloom from pink buds in summer with the pure white petals contrasting amazingly with their red stems. This is then followed by beautiful bright orange fruits in autumn with a shape similar to that of a Raspberry. 

‘Betty Ashburner’ prefers to be placed in full sun or partial shade. A hardy specimen it can establish in exposed or sheltered gardens and it is also drought resistant, able to grow in well-drained soil. This shrub grows happily in any soil type of pH so is highly versatile.
