Rudbeckia fulgida speciosa - Black Eyed Susan

Rudbeckia fulgida speciosa is a robust, easy-to-grow perennial renowned for its cheerful, daisy-like flowers and excellent late-season colour. From mid-summer into autumn, golden-yellow petals surround prominent dark brown to almost black cones, hence the name Black Eyed Susan. The flowers' long flowering period makes Rudbeckia an excellent choice for keeping borders colourful as summer begins to fade.

Perfect for cottage gardens, wildlife gardens, prairie-style planting and mixed perennial borders, 'Black Eyed Susan' performs best in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. Once established, it is reasonably drought-tolerant; however, it still benefits from watering during dry spells. Deadhead routinely to prolong blooming or leave some seed heads for autumn/winter interest. Rudbeckia works very well with crocosmia, asters and salvia.
