Osmanthus heterophyllus 'Goshiki' - False Holly

Osmanthus heterophyllus 'Goshiki' is an outstanding evergreen shrub prized for its beautifully variegated foliage. New growth emerges in shades of creamy yellow, pink and bronze before maturing to glossy green leaves generously splashed with gold and cream. Despite its holly-like appearance, this variety is much softer to the touch and forms a dense, compact shrub, making it ideal for borders, low hedging, feature planting or large patio containers. In autumn, clusters of small, fragrant white flowers appear, filling the air with a delightful jasmine-like scent while attracting bees and other pollinators.

Exceptionally hardy and easy to grow, 'Goshiki' thrives in full sun or partial shade in fertile, well-drained soil. Once established, it is drought-tolerant and requires minimal maintenance, making it perfect for low-maintenance gardens. Prune lightly after flowering to maintain its neat shape if required. Pair with acers, skimmia or pieris for a colourful, year-round display full of texture and seasonal interest.
