Scabiosa atropurpurea ‘Salmon Queen’ produces delicate pincushion blooms in salmon-pink shades with soft golden undertones from summer until early autumn. Charming and versatile, plant this perennial in cottage gardens and pastel border arrangements or style fashionably in vases as cut flowers.
Scabiosa plants prefer well-drained soil, a very sunny position and some shelter from harsh winds. Water during prolonged dry spells, deadhead faded flowers frequently and lightly trim after flowering to encourage further blooming. Pair with cosmos for a romantic, naturalistic display, and if some flowers are left uncut, the seed heads provide gentle autumn interest. Easy to grow, 'Salmon Queen' is a beautifully soft-coloured variety that brings elegance and warmth to sunny borders and patio displays.
