Sorbus aucuparia 'Asplenifolia', also known as the Cut-leaved Rowan, is a graceful ornamental tree with finely divided, fern-like foliage that gives it a delicate, airy appearance. In spring, creamy-white flower clusters attract bees, followed by bright red berries in late summer to autumn, loved by birds and perfect for adding wildlife interest. Its foliage turns golden-orange and red in autumn, offering a spectacular seasonal display.
Thriving in well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade, Asplenifolia is hardy, low-maintenance, and ideal for smaller gardens or woodland-style planting. Minimal pruning is needed, just remove dead or crossing branches in winter. Plant alongside Amelanchier lamarckii or Crataegus persimilis 'Prunifolia' for a naturalistic, wildlife-friendly garden with year-round appeal.
Supplied as a bare root tree.
