Sweetcorn 'Goldcrest' is a vigorous and dependable variety, highly prized for its large, well-filled cobs packed with rows of sweet golden-yellow kernels. The sturdy plants produce impressive cobs measuring around 20cm long, delivering excellent flavour, tenderness, and texture when harvested fresh from the garden. Perfect for boiling, grilling, roasting, or barbecuing, the succulent kernels retain their sweetness exceptionally well and can even be frozen for later use. Its reliable performance and generous yields have made 'Goldcrest' a popular choice among gardeners seeking premium-quality sweetcorn from their own plot.
Thriving in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil and a warm, sunny, sheltered position, 'Goldcrest' is easy to grow and highly rewarding. Plants should be grown in blocks rather than rows to improve pollination and ensure evenly filled cobs. Keep plants well-watered during dry spells, particularly while tassels and cobs are developing, and apply a balanced fertiliser throughout the growing season to support strong growth. Harvest when the silks turn brown, and kernels release a milky juice when gently pressed.
Supplied in approx. 1 litre containers. Each pot contains 5 plants approx ready to be split and planted in the garden.
