Escallonia 'Gold Ellen'

Product ref: S24517

Availability: In stock

Escallonia have been prized for their combination of beautiful honey scented flowers as well as interesting evergreen foliage. ‘Gold Ellen’ is a cultivar bought for its variegated leaves, with the leaf edges ranging from golden yellow to bright green both with a dark-green irregular splash in the centre. Clusters of small vibrant pink flowers bloom in late summer and are the perfect attraction for pollinators like bees or butterflies. Often placed at the back of a mixed border, ‘Gold Ellen’ provides an elegant backdrop of colour against which to contrast earlier flowering plants and adds seasonal blooms. Low and slow growing this shrub can also be used to create an informal hedge or to provide continuous foliage at the edge of borders or paths.

We recommend planting this in full sun, although it will tolerate partial shade and make sure it is in a sheltered position away from cold and drying winds. It can grow in any soil type or pH as long as it is well-drained.

Supplied in approx 2-3 litre containers.
