Plant in rich, well-drained soil that receives full sun. Water the soil frequently to maintain an even moisture level, and mulch to keep moisture in the soil and keep weeds out. To support the weight of the large fruits, use cages or sturdy stakes to support the plants. Use a well-balanced tomato fertiliser on a regular basis. Prune to increase air circulation and get rid of suckers, both of which help stave off illness.
