Tomato 'San Marzano' is the gold standard for lovers of authentic Italian cooking. This heritage plum variety produces elongated, deep red fruits with dense flesh, low moisture, and few seeds – perfect for rich sauces, passata, and slow-roasting. Loved by chefs and gardeners alike, its robust, sweet flavour intensifies when cooked. A vigorous grower, it delivers high yields over a long season.
Grow in full sun, ideally in a greenhouse or sheltered spot outdoors. Support with canes, pinch out side shoots, and feed weekly with tomato fertiliser once fruits form.
