These impressive tree ferns are among the oldest plants in the world, and their fascinating appearance will soon catch the heart of any gardener. This variety, Dicksonia antarctica, is perfect to plant and watch develop over the years as it slowly develops the trunk. Tree ferns are Native to Australia and New Zealand, and over time, this fern log will grow up to 3m (10ft) tall and throw out dark green fronds.

To plant this tree fern log, dig a generously sized hole in a shady area to provide stability and fill it with soil to ensure it stands firm. Soak it with water to help it establish and keep the area moist. This variety is particularly hardy, so it should establish well and soon sprout branches from the top.
