Add something wonderfully different to your garden with Ugni molinae 'Pretty Berry', a charming evergreen shrub that offers beautiful foliage, delicate flowers and a delicious fruity surprise!

Also known as Chilean Guava or Strawberry Myrtle, this delightful plant produces masses of small, glossy, rounded leaves in rich shades of green, with fresh young growth often displaying attractive bronze and coppery tones. Its slender, reddish stems add another touch of character, creating a lovely, finely textured appearance.

During late spring and early summer, pretty little bell-shaped flowers appear amongst the foliage, displaying delicate shades of white and blush pink. These charming blooms are followed by small, rounded berries that ripen to rich red and purple-red tones during autumn.

The fruits are wonderfully aromatic, with a distinctive sweet flavour often described as a delicious combination of strawberry, guava and other tropical fruits. Enjoy them fresh when fully ripe or use them to make fabulous jams, jellies and desserts.

With its attractive evergreen foliage, fragrant flowers and edible berries, 'Pretty Berry' is a delightful choice for gardeners who love plants that are both beautiful and productive.

Supplied in approx. 2 litre containers.

Grow Ugni molinae 'Pretty Berry' in a sunny or partially shaded position, ideally sheltered from cold, drying winds and severe frost. It prefers fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil that is slightly acidic to neutral, although it can tolerate a range of conditions provided drainage is good. Water regularly during its first growing season and keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, particularly during flowering and fruit development. Container-grown plants benefit from a quality ericaceous or slightly acidic compost with added drainage material, along with regular watering during warmer weather. Apply a balanced fertiliser in spring, avoiding excessive feeding, which may encourage leafy growth at the expense of fruiting. Pruning requirements are minimal, although light trimming after harvesting can help maintain a compact, bushy shape.
