Acer palmatum 'Little Princess' is a beautiful, compact Japanese maple that is perfect for containers and smaller gardens. This slow-growing deciduous shrub comes alive in the spring with delicate red-edged, bright green leaves that are finely serrated. Its foliage turns a deep green as the seasons change, and in the autumn, it turns into a breathtaking display of fiery red and golden-orange. This slow-growing variety will reach 1.5 metres high with a 1 metre spread in around 10 years, making it a great choice for a patio pot.
'Little Princess' likes well-drained, slightly acidic soil and thrives in a sheltered spot with partial shade. To preserve its vivid colours, shield it from severe winds and intense midday sunlight. Pruning requirements are minimal; simply trim any branches that are dead or damaged in late winter or early spring.
