Allium azureum is a perennial bulbous plant that will reward you with wonderful azure-blue flowers.
With globe shaped heads of star shaped florets, this Allium is a stunning addition to the garden, adding impact when planted in groups in beds and borders, perhaps twinned with some of the other varieties of allium. The blooms appear around May to July, on stems around 60cm high.
It can also be container grown or used as an excellent cut flowers which have a sweet fragrance. Don't miss this Allium as a naturaliser too, producing its profusion of flowers above the foliage, we think it's best used towards the middle or back of a garden border however, in groups weaving it's way between other plants. Try in front of an establish shrub such as Choisya Sundance to really see the blooms shine out.
The flowers of this Allium are also edible, making a great addition to seasonal salads.
