Allium unifolium 'Eros' is a beautiful ornamental allium, prized for its open clusters of soft lilac-pink star-shaped flowers that bloom in late spring to early summer. Each globe-like head is made up of dozens of delicate flowers, offering a light, airy texture that contrasts beautifully with denser planting. The name unifolium refers to its single broad leaf, which adds further interest to its appearance.
This variety is ideal for garden borders, rock gardens, and containers, adding height and soft pastel colour. It's also bee-friendly, making it a great choice for pollinator-friendly planting schemes.
For best results, plant bulbs 8–10 cm deep and 10–15 cm apart in well-drained soil in a sunny position. 'Eros' pairs wonderfully with other spring bloomers like Camassia, Nepeta, and Salvia, or with ornamental grasses, where its gentle tones can soften stronger hues and textures.
The flowers of this Allium are also edible, making a great addition to seasonal salads.
