The elegant Italian-style chilli with lively heat, Capsicum annuum 'Bird Eye Italico', is a productive and eye-catching variety known for its upright fruits and reliable heat. The narrow peppers grow to around 3-5cm in length, starting green and maturing to bright red from mid to late summer. With an impressive rating of 30000 Scoville units, they perform well when sprinkled into dishes or when dried.

Plant in moist, but well-drained, fertile soil in a warm, sunny position to ensure strong growth and fruiting. Water regularly and feed throughout the growing season to maintain vigour, occasionally pinching to encourage a bushier plant. A great option for home gardeners, this chilli is also suited to ornamental growing with its upright fruits adding visual interest as well as flavour.
