Courgette ‘Midnight’ is a superb compact variety that produces an abundance of deep green fruits bearing smooth skin and excellent flavour. The attractive courgettes are best harvested when young and tender, delivering a firm texture and mild, nutty taste that is perfect for grilling, roasting, stir-fries and salads. Its bushy habit makes it particularly well-suited to smaller gardens, raised beds, and large patio containers.
A reliable and easy-to-grow crop, ‘Midnight’ thrives in a sunny position with fertile, moisture-retentive soil. Regular harvesting is essential, as picking fruits while they are young encourages the plant to continue producing over a long season. Water generously during dry weather, especially when plants are flowering and fruiting, and feed weekly with a high-potash fertiliser to support strong yields. Remove any yellowing or damaged leaves to improve airflow around the plant and help maintain healthy growth. Courgettes are among the most rewarding vegetables for home gardeners, providing a continuous harvest of versatile fruits throughout the summer months.
