Crabapple Tree - Malus Hupehensis - Circa 5ft
Availability: In stock
Crabapple Tree – Malus hupehensis – Circa 5ft is a graceful ornamental tree that provides year-round interest with a spectacular display of fragrant white blossom in spring, emerging from attractive pink buds. These nectar-rich flowers are followed by masses of small crimson-red crab apples that ripen through autumn, providing valuable food for birds and wildlife. Fresh green foliage turns rich golden-yellow before falling, adding vibrant seasonal colour. Reaching as high as 8m at maturity, this elegant tree is perfect as a specimen, for cottage gardens or wildlife-friendly landscapes, while also acting as an excellent pollinator for nearby apple trees.
Plant Malus hupehensis in full sun or light shade in fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Water regularly during its first growing season, then only during prolonged dry spells, and prune lightly in winter to maintain shape and remove any dead or crossing branches. Pair with lavender, nepeta, hardy geraniums for a beautiful display. Ideal for gardens of all sizes, where its blossom, colourful fruit and wildlife value can be enjoyed throughout the seasons.
Supplied in approx. 7.5 litre containers.
