Purple broom is a compact, upright, dense and deciduous shrub. The leaves are dark green and divided into three, in May until June this hardy but beautiful plant becomes coated in clusters of pale pink Pea like flowers which will prove popular with the bees.
Cytisus is tolerant of arid conditions, they love the sunshine and will be happiest in a free draining soil.
These plants will look great a mixed border in a small group and mixed among other summer flowering shrubs, alternatively plant a single specimen nest to hard surface like a rock or wall.
