Delphinium 'Purple Surprise'

Delphinium 'Purple Surprise' is a perennial prized for its beautiful double flowers and impressive upright display. During summer, strong flower spikes become densely packed with ruffled blooms in rich shades of lavender-purple and subtle pinkish tones, adding depth to each flower. The sumptuous blooms rise above attractive foliage, creating a dramatic appearance that is particularly effective in cottage gardens and traditional perennial planting schemes.

Perfect for the middle or back of sunny borders, 'Purple Surprise' thrives in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil. Water regularly during dry weather and apply a balanced feed during active growth to encourage strong flowering.  Support taller stems in exposed positions and remove spent flower spikes to encourage a second flush. It matches amazingly with Digitalis, Geraniums and Lupins to create a layered, dramatic and romantic border.
