SPECIAL DEAL - Usually 12.99, today just 7.99 - Save £5!
Lovely form of Crocosmia with arching spikes of deep-red freesia like flowers flared out along dark bronze green stems, rise on long stems over sword like foliage. Grows to 60cm high and a spread of 40cm flowering through the summer months. Best in full sun to part shade with a moist well drained soil this crocosmia is the "hottest" of all the colours available. The searing paprika red blooms also make excellent cut flowers and add a dramatic impact to any border.
Furthermore, while the bright red petals are sometimes used as a colorful salad garnish, their primary culinary use is as an inexpensive saffron substitute. The dried flowers produce a yellow dye that can flavour and colour rice, soups, and other dishes. In regional African cuisine, the starchy corms are also cooked and eaten.
Supplied in approx. 2-3 litre containers.
