Digitalis purpurea Elsey Kelsey
Availability: In stock
Digitalis purpurea ‘Elsey Kelsey’ is a rare cottage garden favourite, admired for its spires of creamy-white bell-shaped flowers heavily marked with rich burgundy-red throats and delicate speckling. Unlike traditional foxgloves, this distinctive variety produces outward-facing blooms along tall upright stems, creating a dramatic and architectural display from early to mid-summer. Reaching heights of up to 1.2m, ‘Elsey Kelsey’ brings bold vertical interest to borders while attracting bees and other pollinators to the garden.
Plant in partial shade or full sun in moist, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Water regularly during dry periods and allow enough space for airflow between plants. Remove faded flower spikes to encourage prolonged blooming, or leave seed heads in place for naturalising displays. Pair with delphiniums or hardy geraniums for a traditional cottage garden combination filled with colour and texture. Ideal for mixed borders, wildlife gardens and lightly shaded planting schemes.
Supplied in approx. 1 litre containers.
