Runner Beans (Phaseolus coccineus) are vigorous and highly productive vegetable plants. An especially dependable member of our collection, Runner Bean 'Moonlight' is prized for its smooth, stringless pods, heavy yields and superb flavour. Producing long, slender green beans reaching around 25cm in length, this award-winning variety is celebrated for its sweet taste and tender texture. Unlike other varieties, 'Moonlight' sets pods reliably even during warmer summer conditions, helping to ensure consistent cropping throughout the season. Its pure white flowers also add ornamental charm to the vegetable garden while attracting pollinators.
Thriving in rich, moisture-retentive yet well-drained soil, 'Moonlight' performs best in a sunny, sheltered position with strong canes or supports for climbing. Regular watering is essential during flowering and pod formation to maintain steady growth and prevent pods from becoming tough. Pinching out the growing tips once plants reach the top of their supports will enable easier harvesting. Pick pods frequently while young and tender to promote continuous production from mid-summer into early autumn, and remove any older beans promptly to keep plants flowering heavily.
Supplied in approx. 1 litre containers.
