Cistus Purpureus - Rock Rose
Availability: In stock
Cistus × purpureus is a sun-loving evergreen shrub valued for its dramatic, textured flowers that appear freely from late spring into early summer. Each bloom opens wide with bold, eye-catching markings around a golden centre, standing out against the narrow, aromatic foliage. Although individual flowers are short-lived, they are produced in abundance, ensuring a continuous display that brings a relaxed, Mediterranean feel to borders, gravel gardens, and sunny banks.
Thriving in full sun and free-draining soil, this rock rose is drought-tolerant once established and requires very little maintenance beyond light trimming after flowering. It pairs beautifully with Lavandula angustifolia ‘Munstead’, Rosmarinus officinalis 'Prostratus', and Perovskia 'Blue Eye', all of which share similar growing conditions and complement its vibrant blooms and silvery-green foliage. Together, these plants create a cohesive, low-maintenance planting scheme full of texture and seasonal interest.
Supplied in approx 2-3 litre containers.
