Bring a little jewel-like magic to your garden with Viola 'Deep Purple Face', a stunning little beauty whose rich, velvety blooms are guaranteed to catch the eye!
Its gorgeous flowers feature deep, royal-purple petals with flashes of brilliant blue radiating from a tiny golden-yellow centre. Delicate, dark whisker-like markings add even more character, giving each bloom a charming little face that's simply irresistible.
The beautifully coloured flowers sit above neat, fresh green foliage, creating a compact, bushy display that looks fantastic whether planted alone or combined with other seasonal favourites. Despite its delicate appearance, this hardworking Viola is wonderfully suited to cooler weather, providing welcome colour when many other garden plants are taking a break.
Perfect for brightening patio pots, window boxes, hanging baskets and the front of borders, 'Deep Purple Face' looks particularly striking alongside white, pale yellow or lavender-coloured Violas. Plant several together for a gorgeous carpet of rich purple blooms that will brighten even the dullest winter day!

Supplied in approx. 9cm pots, in bud and bloom in season.

Violas belong to the same botanical family as pansies and violets, and their distinctive facial markings have earned them the affectionate nickname 'little faces'. These markings are more than just decorative: the contrasting lines and colours on many Viola flowers act as visual guides, helping visiting pollinators find their way towards the flower's centre.

Grow Viola 'Deep Purple Face' in full sun or partial shade, in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil. For containers and hanging baskets, use a good-quality multipurpose compost with adequate drainage. Water regularly to keep the compost lightly moist, taking care to avoid waterlogging, especially during colder weather. Container-grown plants may benefit from occasional feeding with a balanced liquid fertiliser during active growth. Remove faded flowers regularly to encourage fresh blooms and keep plants looking tidy. Violas are generally hardy and tolerate cool conditions well, although flowering may slow or pause during prolonged freezing weather. Protect containers from severe frost where possible and avoid allowing compost to become completely dry.
