Empress of India - Nasturtium Flower Seed Packet

Product ref: X120025

Availability: In stock

A traditional Victorian variety with magnificent velvet crimson blooms and green foliage. Even before it blooms, the plant is noteworthy due to its distinctive leaf colour. It is quite easy to grow and works well in pots, tubs, window boxes, and borders. Attractive flowers and leaves are very appealing to butterflies and bees.

Sow directly where they will flower from March to May, or after the last frost. Sow seeds to a depth of 1 cm in finely raked compost, spacing them out by about 25 cm. Alternatively, start seeds inside in February with 3 to 4 seeds per 7.5cm pot. When plants reach a suitable size, they can be transferred into patio planters or baskets in May. Green foliage will cover borders and containers for the majority of the year, with blooms from July to October.
