Buddleja davidii Empire Blue - Royal Blue Buddleia Butterfly Bush

This well known cultivar is still as popular as ever for its superb royal blue-deep purple blooms and their deliciously sweet fragrance encouraging & enticing butterflies into the garden along with many other pollinators too.

Buddleja davidii 'Empire Blue' was one of the first blue varieties commercially available and remains a worthy specimen shrub for sunny borders despite the many new introductions of blue Buddleia's. A large deciduous shrub with an upright habit, it has narrow grey-green leaves with silvery-white undersides that cloak the gently arching stems. It is a good border filler or 'cover' shrub for the garden due to its size - it will grow up to 2 metres if left to its own devices without pruning. Supplied in approx 2-3 litre containers.
