Cucamelon is a tiny, grape-sized fruit that looks like a miniature watermelon. The unique and interesting fruits grow on bushy green foliage and are surprisingly easy to grow in the UK despite their exotic look and name. The taste of these little fruits is similar to cucumber, but with a hint of sweet lime or melon.
Unlike cucumbers, once sown, these will produce handfuls of fruit year after year. They'll ripen to around the size of a small grape, at which point they're ready to harvest and eat. Snip the fruits off the vine when they are ready and treat them like a cucumber or fruit. Chop up into salads, pickle in jars, make salsa or simply eat raw.
