Bring a touch of fairytale beauty to your garden with Delphinium Highlander, a spectacular collection of double-flowered Delphiniums celebrated for their extraordinary, ruffled blooms and elegant, towering flower spikes.

Unlike traditional Delphiniums, the Highlander series produces wonderfully full, multi-petalled flowers that resemble miniature rosettes. Delicate shades of lilac, lavender and soft pinkish-purple create a dreamy display, with each flower revealing intricate layers of gently frilled petals.

Rising proudly above attractive, deeply divided green foliage, the impressive flower spikes make a breathtaking feature in cottage gardens and mixed herbaceous borders. Their graceful height looks particularly lovely alongside roses, peonies and other summer-flowering favourites.

Perfect for adding drama to garden displays or bringing indoors as luxurious cut flowers, these enchanting perennials deliver an unforgettable summer spectacle.

Supplied in approx. 3 litre containers.

The Highlander series was developed in Scotland by delphinium breeder Tony Coakley, who created these remarkable varieties with their unusually full, multi-layered flowers. Some Highlander blooms contain so many beautifully ruffled petals that they resemble miniature roses rather than traditional Delphiniums, giving them a particularly luxurious appearance.

Plant Delphinium Highlander in a sunny, sheltered position with fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil. Incorporate well-rotted compost before planting and water regularly during dry spells, particularly while establishing. Apply a balanced liquid fertiliser every two to three weeks during active growth to encourage strong stems and abundant flowering. Taller varieties may benefit from staking, especially in exposed gardens. Remove faded flower spikes to encourage further blooms and cut back dead growth to ground level in late autumn. Protect emerging shoots from slugs and snails in spring. These hardy perennials return year after year, although waterlogged winter soil should be avoided. All parts are harmful if eaten, so handle with care.
