French Bean 'Safari' is a highly productive dwarf French bean, prized for its slender, fine pods and crisp, delicate flavour. The neat plants produce masses of smooth, dark green pods, each around 12cm long, with a stringless texture that remains succulent even after cooking. Known for their excellent quality and high level of disease resistance, these pods are ideal for steaming, stir-frying, freezing or harvesting young as gourmet "fillet beans". 'Safari' is especially valued for its reliability and heavy yields over a long picking season.
Best grown in fertile, well-drained soil in a warm, sunny and sheltered position, 'Safari' thrives in beds, raised planters and containers. As a dwarf variety, it generally requires no staking, making it easy to manage in smaller spaces. Keep the soil consistently moist during flowering and pod formation, and feed occasionally with a balanced fertiliser to encourage continued cropping from midsummer into early autumn. Regular harvesting is essential to keep plants producing heavily, while removing old pods promptly helps maintain vigour and prolong the season. 'Safari' is an excellent choice for gardeners seeking reliable harvests of high-quality gourmet beans.
Supplied in approx. 1 litre containers.
