Introduced by the famous Hillier Nurseries at the 2018 Chelsea flower show, this new Hydrangea aspera ‘Gold Rush’ brings a new dimension to one of the countries most popular garden flowers.

Gold Rush is surely one of the most showy Hydrangeas you will find, not just because of the large lavender blue-mauve flower heads, complimented by white florets, but because of the rich velvety golden foliage.

‘Gold Rush Hydrangeas’ first perform each spring when the unique foliage emerges, initially displaying shades of gold and flame orange, these then mature to a rich golden yellow before turning green in the height of summer. From mid-late summer the diplay of sturdy flowers appears above the foliage.

Perfect for shrub borders, or as an ideal addition to patio containers and balcony displays it is very easy to grow on all but chalky soils, thriving in a moist, well drained position. ‘Gold Rush’ is a medium sized deciduous shrub that can reach between 1.5 and 2.5 metres in height at maturity if left unprunned, however it is easily maintained at a smaller stature with an annual pruning at the end or start of the growing season.
