Maranta Kerchoveana - Prayer Plant

The Prayer Plant, or Maranta Kerchoveana, is a captivating plant with exquisitely patterned leaves. Its leaves, which have a rich, velvety feel and distinctive green patterns, delicately fold up at night to resemble hands in prayer. To maintain the colour and integrity of its leaves, this low-maintenance houseplant prefers bright, indirect light rather than direct sunshine. It thrives in humid environments with well-drained soil, therefore kitchens and bathrooms are the best places for it to be planted because they provide it with the perfect amount of ambient moisture.

It's planted mostly for its gorgeous foliage, but it also adds a subtle appeal with its little, inconspicuous flowers, which bloom in the spring and summer. Combine the Prayer Plant with other plants that appreciate the shade and dampness, such as the Peace Lily or Fern, for a lush, tropical feel indoors.
