Monarda didyma Balmy Purple - Bee Balm

Product ref: P24657

Availability: In stock

Monarda didyma ‘Balmy Purple’ is a compact, clump-forming perennial that delivers a long-lasting burst of colourful magenta-purple flower heads through mid to late summer. The shaggy, tufted blooms sit above aromatic, deep green foliage. They are rich in nectar, making this bee balm a magnet for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators while adding bold colour and movement to the garden.

Thriving in full sun to light partial shade, it prefers reliably moist, well-drained soil and is well-suited to borders, wildlife gardens, and informal planting schemes. Its tidy habit makes it ideal for the front or middle of mixed borders, where it brings structure without overwhelming neighbouring plants. For harmonious combinations, pair it with Agastache ‘Beelicious Purple’,  Achillea millefolium ‘Milly Rock Red’, or
Coreopsis grandiflora 'Solar Jewel', which complements its tones and upright form wonderfully.

Supplied in approx 2-3 litre containers.

The primary intended use of this plant is to grow food for human consumption.

There are thousands of different plant species that can be consumed, and our extensive range is no exception. We have conveniently listed a large number of edible plants here. Additionally, we have compiled several articles and handy recipes for some of the plants you are less likely to find in supermarkets.

We always recommend conducting your own research before consuming any plant to understand the various ways different varieties can be prepared and consumed. Be mindful of potential allergies when trying anything new and ensure it is suitable for all who may be consuming it.

Some plants or varieties can also be cultivated as animal feed for livestock, such as poultry, game, and livestock reared for consumption. Again, we advise doing your own research to select the most appropriate plants for your livestock.
