Nerines are stunning perennials hailing from South Africa and generally flower when most other plants are fading in the garden. Nerine bowdenii 'Vesta' produces soft blush pink, delicately ruffled flowers atop tall, leafless stems during autumn. The graceful, lightly scented flowers bring late-season colour to borders or patio containers, brightening the garden when other plants have finished flowering. This hardy variety combines beautifully with sedums and asters for a spectacular autumn border.

Thriving in full sun and light, well-drained soil, 'Vesta' prefers a warm, sheltered position where the bulbs can bask in the sunshine. Apply a balanced fertiliser in spring to encourage healthy growth and prolific flowering, and allow the foliage to die back naturally after flowering to replenish the bulbs for the following year. Low-maintenance and long-lived, this elegant bulb will reward you with a dazzling display of colour every autumn. The stems of flowers can also be cut and are long-lasting in a vase for the home, too.
