Bergenia 'Eroica' - Elephant Ears

Bergenia ‘Eroica’ is a bold, architectural perennial valued for its large, glossy leaves that form a dense, confident clump at ground level. In spring, tight clusters of richly coloured flowers create a beautiful contrast against the broad leaves below. As the seasons progress, the foliage often deepens in tone, adding drama and structure to borders even when little else is in flower, making it an excellent plant for year-round interest.

This plant performs best in a position with sun or light shade and prefers moist, but well-drained soil; however, it is tolerant of a range of garden conditions once established. It pairs beautifully with plants that echo its strong form or soften it with contrasting textures, such as Helleborus orientalis for winter and early spring interest and Brunnera ‘Jack Frost’ for a lighter leaf contrast. For bulbs, Narcissus ‘Thalia’ offers a harmonious, layered planting with interest throughout the year.
