Papaver Orientale Beauty of Livermere
Availability: In stock
Few perennials create such a dramatic early summer impact as Papaver orientale ‘Beauty of Livermere’, renowned for its enormous, silky crimson blooms. Each flower opens like a satin bowl, glowing in rich scarlet tones and marked at the base with bold, near-black blotches that draw the eye straight to its dark centre. The petals have a lightly crinkled texture, catching the light beautifully as they unfurl from late spring to early summer. After flowering, attractive seed heads develop, adding further architectural interest to borders.
Reliable and long-lived, ‘Beauty of Livermere’ thrives in full sun in well-drained soil and, once established, is remarkably drought-tolerant. Like many oriental poppies, it naturally dies back after flowering, re-emerging fresh the following spring, so it pairs particularly well with later-emerging perennials that fill the space. Hardy and easy to grow, this poppy is an outstanding choice for adding bold, unforgettable colour and classic cottage-garden character to sunny borders.
Supplied in approx. 1 litre containers.
