Phillyrea angustifolia

A superb evergreen for structure and texture, Phillyrea angustifolia, or Narrow-Leaved Mock Olive, offers year-round interest with its slender, leathery green leaves and neat, bushy habit. Resembling an olive tree but hardier, this Mediterranean native is ideal for creating low hedging, formal topiary, or a backdrop in mixed borders. In summer, it produces small, creamy-white flowers that are subtly fragrant and occasionally followed by dark berries.

Thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. Drought-tolerant once established and excellent for coastal or dry gardens. Prune lightly after flowering to shape and encourage dense growth.
