Abeliophyllum distichum - White Forsythia - in Bud and Bursting into Bloom
Availability: Out of stock
Abeliophyllum, also known as white forsythia is one of the earliest shrubs to flower each year. It carries slender branches that are covered in white flowers from late winter to early spring. These burst forward from puplish buds that appear along the grey barked winter stems.
Thriving in full sun to a partially shady spot, Abeliophyllum has the added bonus that the flowers are highly scented. They have a delicious almond-like fragrance that will scent the air, making them particularly good to try planted near a pathway or entrance so this can be enjoyed each time one passes by.
Once the flowers fade the branches cover themselves in attractive dark, glossy green foliage, making this shrub perfect for a border backdrop or a more prominent position to add interest in the garden when little else is flowering.
Our shrubs are covered in buds in season and each supplied in approx. 2 litre containers.
