Plant in rich, well-drained soil that receives full sun. Water the soil frequently to maintain an even moisture level, and mulch to keep moisture in the soil and keep weeds out. For the best flavour and texture, harvest the fruits when they are still young and tender, about 10 to 15 cm long. Pick the squash frequently to promote ongoing production. Combine with other companion plants, such as marigolds or beans, to promote growth and ward off pests.Â
